Filament-painting gradient preview
A HueForge gradient isn't a rainbow spool — it's a few translucent filaments stacked, with the colour transitioning as the print gets thicker. Drag the TD and band sliders and watch the blend smooth out or band — the score tells you which filaments will actually gradient cleanly.
The printed surface (thin → thick)
Slight banding · ΔE 2.4Same 2 filaments the whole way — the gradient comes from the surface getting thicker left→right, revealing the layers above each swap.
Cross-section — where each filament takes over
Why it blends — light through each filament
This stack bands at ΔE 2.4 — the culprit is Magenta (TD 2.0). Higher-TD filaments blend smoother. Tracked picks above TD 2.0:
Simulation (base-10 Beer-Lambert, linear-light) — predicts the trend, not an exact swatch. Cells are hard-edged on purpose so real layer banding shows.
